His full name is Yesel Manou Manrique, but his friends call him Yak. His parents, Lisa (from Argentina!) and Jesus (from Venezuela!), met in California, and on one sunny day in July, Yeselito was invented. Growing up, Yesel always loved movies, stand up comedy, cartoons, and shows like SNL and In Living Color.
He played sports most his life, and it wasn't until his senior year at the University of La Verne that he realized he wanted to be a comedian. Yak started doing stand up, and then a few years later started improv, because his friend Louie kind of tricked him into taking a class.
It has been great since then. Chasing what you love can be difficult at times, but Yak has kept focus ever since. Private Street has been one of the best things to ever happen to him, and he's happy to know that he'll be doing comedy with them for the rest of his life.
